Over 2000 people turned out to the Union Square Barnes & Nobles in NYC for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsens book signing. I'm sure most of them weren't excepting much more then a signature , especially after the girls were on Oprah and refused to talk about anything but their breakfast menu. None the less, fans and paparazzi gatherd to have their copy of Influence touched by the twins. But of course not before they read The Rules. Yes, there were rules.
1. Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashly Olsen will be with us for a limited time. They will only be signing copies of their book, Influence. They will not be speaking, reading or taking questions.
• God forbid you say anything to them , they might melt or turn into stone ( still love you girls but give me a break )
2. Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen will NOT sign any memorabilia or product other then Influence. There is a limit of one book per person, and your one book must be purchased here.
• Ok,i sort of get this - I mean if real fans started whipping out their FullHouse Thermos and chapter book they might be there all day.
3. You will be directed to pay for your book upon entering the store and will be given a receipt for your purchase. Please keep your receipt. You will receive your book at the signing table.
• B&N has to make a buck too people
4. Along with your receipt, you will be given a B&N wristband, and then directed to the event space on the 4th floor. You must have a receipt and a wristband to access the 4th floor.

5. Anyone approaching the signing table must have paid for the book and be wearing a B&N wristband. One person, one wristband, one book.
• I feel like they are reiterating the same rule over and over and over again. we get it.
6. You will collect your signed book at the signing table. If you have paid for additional copies, a staff member will provide you with those before you exit the space.
• they arent fucking around.
7. There is no photography allowed. You must put away your camera or cell phone before approaching the signing table. The authors will not pose for photos.
• theres a cell phone video or snapshot from this signing and its only a matter or time before it falls into the lap of youtube. i can promise you this.
8. If you leave, or the authors leave, before you are able to collect a signed book, you may present your receipt to a cashier for either an unsigned book or refund ( Refunds only issued within 14 days of receipt)
• They had to add " or the authors leave" because even B&N knows how these bitches roll.
9. There will be no extra signed copies available after the authors leave the store. They will not be able to sign for anyone who is not on line. No pre-orders.
• once again, these copies will be floating around on ebay in about hmmmmmmmm 4 days.

Apparently the rules are stated by Barnes & Nobles and not by the girls themselves, who knows.
someone should ask them at their next book signing.

I def loved this book, but all those rules about signing is rediculous! what else better do they have to do with their time? besides drink coffee and smoke!? I LOVE THEM SO MUCH THOUGH! lol
that's exactly how they do things for hot topic signings. My boyfriend works for headquarters and it's just the easiest way possible to do it for the fans..so they can get more people in..but then again we are talking bands and not km&a who seem very high maintenance.
